Three day Workshop – 7 Hours Each Day

Are you interested in sitting down comfortably on an object of your own creation? What better addition to your living room, kitchen, dining room, study, bedroom could there be? Participate in this three-day course from Genlore Studio and gain a hands-on understanding of chair design ergonomics, basic woodworking joinery and appreciation for local solid wood. Students can choose either cherry or ash for their project.
This class is suitable for intermediate woodworkers. Class size capped at 4 students; students must be at least 16 years old. A small charcuterie lunch of cheese, fruits, meats, and bread and refreshments will be provided. Students should come prepared with a good attitude and close-toed shoes; all other tools will be provided.
Single day Workshop – 6 Hours
10am - 4pm
In addition to being a very accessible introduction to the joy of simple furniture making, the milking stool has a large range of uses in the home: a low seat, a step stool, a plant stand, a night stand, etc. In this one-day woodworking course at Genlore Studio, students will make a three-legged stool inspired by Wisconsin dairy farm milking stools. Students will learn a bit of design layout and then jump right in with the spokeshave and hand plane to taper and shape the three legs. A rasp will be used for shaping the circular top.Students can expect to take home a finished stool at the end of the six-hour course. Students can choose either cherry or ash for their project.

Dive into hand tool furniture making with a two-day bench/low table workshop. The low table will comprise a rectangular top with four legs connected by three stretchers; depending on your chosen dimensions you can use your project as a coffee table, bench, low sofa table, etc. You will do all the work to drill the leg mortises, cut the joinery for the stretchers and shape all the parts. Sharing in the enthusiasm and joy of working with your hands, students can expect to take home a finished low table at the end of two days. Students can choose either cherry or ash for their project.

Spend three days creating your own sculpted-seat counter stool at the Genlore Studio. Learn to trust your eye and use your hands to cut, join and shape the components of a solid wood stool. Admire and appreciate the addition of a piece of furniture to your home that is one of one instead of one of a million from Big Box Store. Using wedged through tenon joinery, drills, tenon cutters, hand planes, and rasps we’ll get started on a project that will last more than a life time. Students can expect to take home a finished stool at the end of the course. Students can choose either cherry or ash for their project.
